Module Four: Responding to the Signs and Symptoms of Sexual Abuse

Session 1: Understanding Sexual Abuse
We'll explore the range and intensity of our feelings as well as the child's feelings about sexual abuse and appropriate ways to deal with those feelings. We will analyze the indicators of abuse in children. We will look at how to respond to disclosures or discovery of sexual abuse.

Session 2: Responding to the Issues of Sexual Abuse
We will study the impact of sexual abuse on children. We'll also explore specific behaviors: fear, anxiety, anger, and sexual behaviors. In addition, we'll discuss healing approaches to help keep the child safe and build upon his/her strengths.
