Module Nine: Managing the Fostering Experience

Session 1, Part 1 and Part 2: Managing Change in Your Family
We explore the impact that fostering has on family operations as well as relationships both withing and outside the family. We look at a five-step process for managing the effects of placement on family operations and explore ways to strengthen marital, parent-child, and sibling relationships. Finally, we look at maintaining and building support to the community.

Session 2: Managing the Impact of Abuse/Neglect Allegations
We learn about the importance of advance preparation and examine ten steps for dealing with abuse/neglect allegations. We also explore the ways to connect you with your state/agency policy and provide a range of services and supports available to you both before and after possible allegations. We also look at the emotional impact on you, the child and the family and consider ways to manage the investigation process.
